HGTV Host and SF Resident Bill Beckwith Dies in Motorcycle Accident

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Bill Beckwith, of San Francisco.

Bill Beckwith, 38, was killed on Monday night in a motorcycle crash in the Haight district of San Francisco. Beckwith was known for his work as the host of the hit HGTV television show “Curb Appeal” and his construction company, BBDesignBuild.

Beckwith was riding his motorcycle near Oak and Steiner streets when a vehicle struck him. He was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital, but died of his injuries. The San Francisco Police Department has not disclosed details about the crash, except that the 30-year-old driver of the vehicle was not injured, stayed at the scene, and is cooperating with the investigation.

“Curb Appeal” is an HGTV home renovation show that documented overhauls of home exteriors. Beckwith hosted the show for two years. HGTV network representatives have not released a statement.

Beckwith grew up in Maine but moved to the Bay Area over a decade ago. His company, BBDesignBuild, is based in the city’s Castro district.
