A Santa Cruz bicyclist suffered major injuries when he was struck by a car on a section of Highway 1 south of Davenport. The cyclist was riding in the same direction as the lane of travel, was wearing a helmet and had reflectors. He was struck by a car that was overtaking him from behind, a frequent cause of injury to cyclists. Conditions were foggy and the California Highway Patrol has not issued a ruling on fault at this point. The cyclist was airlifted from the scene.
