In the first three months of 2013, 6 pedestrians have been killed in traffic-related accidents in San Francisco. If that rate continues, San Francisco will likely see the number of pedestrian deaths rise for the third straight year. In 2011, the number of pedestrian deaths in San Francisco rose from 14 in 2010 to 17. In 2012, there were at least 19 pedestrian deaths in San Francisco. The most recent pedestrian fatality in the city comes just days before the final version of the city’s pedestrian safety plan, “Pedestrian Strategy’, is set to be released.
