Driver Killed in Fiery Big-Rig Crash Near Vallejo

The driver of a big-rig was killed in a fiery crash on Highway 37 near Vallejo. The cause of the crash is still under investigation though police believe another vehicle, a pick-up truck, was involved.

Witnesses say they saw the big-rig careen off the elevated portion of Highway 37 and fall to a grassy area below where it burst into flames. Passing motorists, including an off-duty paramedic, were able to free the big-rig driver from the wreckage before the cab caught on fire. The driver was rushed to the hospital, but died from his injuries.

Police reported that the big-rig was carrying supplies for Ace Hardware. Sonoma County hazardous material crews were called and reported multiple explosions from the crash site.
