Three people, including a 7-year-old boy, were sent to the hospital after a big-rig and an SUV collided on I-580. The crash resulted in a fire that burned the big-rig nearly to ash. The truck driver and his 7-year-old son were able to jump out of the truck cab before the fire started. The big-rig was carrying a construction crane at the time of the accident. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the collision and fire started when the big-rig sideswiped a Toyota SUV. The collision caused the big-rig to slide across a concrete wall, spilling diesel fluid on the roadway.
