Governor Brown has vetoed SB910, California’s proposed bike safety law. The law, nicknamed ‘Give Me Three’, would have required drivers to give bikers 3 feet when overtaking them from behind. The bill was cosponsored by the California Bicycle Coalition and the City of Los Angeles and even gained support from celebrity bicyclist Lance Armstrong. The governor cited ‘legitimate concerns’ with the bill as drafted and encouraged its supporters to re-draft the bill and try again next year.
