A University Police cruiser struck a Chico State student who was riding his bike. The student left the scene limping with injuries to his right hip. According to University Police Sgt. Brian Farrell, the cruiser was stopped at a stop sign just before the collision. As the officer began easing his vehicle out to enter the roadway, he did not see the biker. While the accident is still under investigation, CHP officers took the opportunity to stress bicycle safety, particularly proper lighting for bicycles at night.
