A massive Ford recall was announced on July 8, 2014, affecting over 100,000 vehicles in North America for a variety of safety defects.
Ford Motor Company announced six separate recalls, noting that no injuries have been attributed to any of the defects. The following vehicles are subject to the recalls:
- Ford Taurus, Lincoln MKS and Police Interceptor sedans, the Flex and Lincoln MKT crossovers, model years 2013 and 2014.
- Ford Edge, model years 2012 through 2014.
- 2014 Lincoln MKX.
These vehicles have a right-hand half shaft, part of the axle, that may disengaged over time, making the vehicles inoperable.
Ford also recalled 5,264 2011-2014 F59s because corrosion of the chassis could lead to a fire risk. The last recall includes 2,214 2014 Ford Escape SUVs because the panoramic glass roofs might leak or fall out.
