Cupertino Crash Kills 8-Year-Old Megan Yang

A young girl was killed in a Cupertino Crash. The collision occurred on California state Highway 85, just north of De Anza Boulevard around 3:30 p.m. Just before the collision, the driver of a Jeep Wrangler made an unsafe turn to the right that sent the Jeep onto the right shoulder and up a raised dirt embankment. The Jeep then struck a Mazda that was stopped on the right shoulder. The Mazda, driven by a 41-year-old woman, had Megan Yang, age 8, and a 6-year-old boy. The impact from the Jeep Wrangler sent the Mazda across three lanes, where it was struck by the front of another SUV before coming to a stop on the freeway. The 6-year-old boy sustained major injuries and the 41-year-old woman was treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the Jeep Wrangler, an unidentified 56-year-old San Jose man, was ejected from the vehicle and transported to a hospital with major injuries.

The collision is still under investigation.
