Motorcyclist Killed by Big-Rig in Sunnyvale Trucking Accident

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the motorcyclist who was killed in a trucking accident yesterday in Sunnyvale.

The fatal collision occurred shortly after 6 p.m. on southbound Highway 101, just south of the Lawrence Expressway. According to the California Highway Patrol, a motorcyclist was sideswiped by another vehicle. The driver was knocked off the vehicle, then was run over by a UPS big-rig. The motorcyclist, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Geneva Cedillo, a witness to the accident, told news outlets that heavy traffic decreased the speed to less than 10 miles per hour. The motorcyclist was maneuvering through the traffic, not driving fast or doing anything dangerous at all, but somehow was knocked beneath the UPS truck. Cedillo stated, “It just looked like a freak accident.”
