Philip Marich and Hector Vasquez Crushed to Death in San Francisco Industrial Accident

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the two men who were killed in a San Francisco industrial accident on February 7. Philip Marich, 53, of South San Francisco and Hector Vazquez, 46, of Oakland, died while at work.

The two workers were fatally injured when granite slabs fell on them as they worked in a shipping container. One worker died at the scene and the other was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Both worked for Galaxy Granite, Inc. for four to five years.

The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health sent inspectors to the accident site. The granite company has no previous accidents or violations, according to Cal-OSHA.
