June P. Bashant
About
A Bay Area safety and wrongful death attorney, June’s client-centered focus is demonstrated by her ability to convey compelling stories that resonate with the humanity at the heart of each case. June’s exhaustive research, deliberate preparation, and “leave no stone unturned,” strategy resulted in her being named one of the Daily Journal’s top plaintiff lawyers in 2025. Her practice focuses on serious catastrophic injuries occurring in the workplace, on highways, or caused by unsafe conditions of premises, substandard medical care, elder abuse, and defective products such as pharmaceuticals or medical devices. June’s work on behalf of her clients has resulted in improved safety standards and consumer protections – leveling the playing field when powerful corporations act unsafely.
With more than 25 years of experience, June P. Bashant has established a reputation for her hard work representing individuals injured by the careless conduct and choices of others. In 2024, June secured a $15 million settlement against The Regents of the University of California in a claimed medical battery and negligence case involving a preventable medication error at UCSF that resulted in likely permanent injuries. The case underscored the critical need for clear medication labeling, training, and safety protocols within health care systems.
Her recent results further reflect the depth of her practice. In 2023, June obtained a seven-figure settlement in a wrongful death case involving a school crossing guard. In 2022, she secured an eight-figure settlement for catastrophically injured tourists involved in a crossover collision on a two-lane country road and resolved a seven-figure case for an elementary education teacher struck by a personal transport vehicle in a large stadium parking lot. Earlier results include a $2 million wrongful death settlement in 2016 and a $2.1 million recovery in a 2014 seat defect case involving a lumbar fracture.
Her track record also includes significant recoveries in complex wrongful death and catastrophic injury matters. Alongside her partner John Feder, she recovered $20 million for the wrongful death of a young professional who was exposed to a dangerous virus while staying at a hotel on vacation. Additionally, June recovered $3.7 million in a hit and run automobile collision where her client was thrown from his motor scooter and suffered severe, debilitating injuries requiring extended hospitalization and rehabilitation.

She is also dedicated to holding companies accountable for practices that endanger vulnerable populations. She has been actively involved in litigation and advocacy on behalf of teens and families harmed by high-potency cannabis vaping products, as cases of cannabis-induced psychosis among young people have risen alongside legalization and aggressive marketing. June is taking on companies that downplay or misrepresent risks, promote cannabis vaping products as solutions for stress and anxiety, and use youth-oriented branding, flavors, and endorsements without adequate warnings. These efforts are focused on protecting young people and ensuring transparency and accountability within the cannabis industry.
That commitment to public safety also extends to transportation-related cases. She is engaged in efforts to hold rideshare companies, including Uber, accountable for passenger safety and compliance with required safety protocols, reflecting a broader dedication to ensuring that large, influential companies do not evade responsibility when their systems place the public at risk, including the maintenance of ride share vehicles.
June’s cases range from wrongful death to birth injuries, elder abuse, auto accidents, pedestrian accidents, product defects, and auto defects. June has also arbitrated and tried cases to verdict. She is consistently involved in complex litigation, multi-plaintiff litigation, and federal multi-district litigation in which she has served as lead counsel.
June completed her private school education on the east coast graduating from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, and Widener University School of Law in Pennsylvania in 1991 and 1995, respectively. She completed several internships, including one in the Maryland Governor’s Office, and another in the Appellate Division of the Maryland Attorney General’s Office. After law school, June relocated to San Francisco and was admitted to the California Bar in 1997. She began her career doing insurance coverage litigation. In 1999, June joined Rouda Feder Tietjen & McGuinn, where she has practiced for 25 years.
Within the legal community, June has held leadership and service roles for many years. She served as an Executive Board Member of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association (“SFTLA”) through 2015 and remains an active member of SFTLA, the American Association for Justice, and Consumer Attorneys of California. June has also been profiled in Diablo Magazine, and Daily Journal for Top Plaintiff Lawyers 2025. She has been selected to Super Lawyers ® every year since 2014 and included in The Best Lawyers ® in America since 2019. Advocating for consumer safety, fairness, and the personal security of her clients are the hallmarks of her practice.
June Bashant sums up the firm’s continued legacy and philosophy: “We protect and advocate for our clients throughout their legal journey providing creative, strategic, and financial resources to expertly navigate litigation.”
