Kulwant Jandir, 58, was struck and killed while walking in the Berryessa neighborhood of San Jose on July 15, 2014. Jandir was walking on the sidewalk of Jackson Avenue when a vehicle jumped the curb and fatally struck him. The driver of the vehicle that hit him remained at the scene but was hospitalized after complaining of pain.
San Jose Police are investigating the accident and will send their findings to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office to determine if criminal charges are appropriate. The family told the media that they have not received much information from the police. The name of the driver has not been released. Jandir’s daughter, Rahjdeep Jandir Pabla, said, “It happened so suddenly. He’s no longer part of our daily lives, and at the same time, we’re so lost trying to find out what happened.”
Jandir worked as an engineer in Silicon Valley for about 25 years but recently left to start a travel agency based out of San Jose.
