Authorities Seek Tips on Multiple Hit-And-Run Collisions in Bay Area

At least seven hit-and-run collisions involving pedestrians and bicyclists occurred in the past week, with authorities seeking public assistance in identifying drivers who sped away. In two recent accidents, police were able to track down the driver.

In the early morning hours of Sunday, November 24, Bryant Mendoza left his job as a bartender at Shadow Lounge, located near 13th and Harrison streets in Oakland. Bryant stepped onto the street to walk across to his parked car, when a Porsche Cayenne SUV made a wide, unsteady turn onto 13th Street. Surveillance video captured Bryant attempting to get out of the way, but the vehicle is too fast and he rolls onto the Porsche’s hood, then falls to the ground. The driver of the Porsche pauses, then sped off. Authorities are seeking any information about the driver, who was driving a darker colored Porsche Cayenne SUV with tinted windows. The vehicle may have damage to the windshield and hood. Unfortunately, the surveillance footage was not clear enough to identify the license plate or driver. Bryant suffered major injuries, including a broken pelvis and leg. Bryant was supposed to start a new job a week after the accident, but doctors estimate that he will not be able to walk for at least three months. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oakland Police Department at (510) 777-8572. (Full Story: http://cbsloc.al/1bi5jN4)
